Christopher Delaney singing with St Albans Chamber Opera, in their 2011 production of Yeoman of the Guard
...I discovered I could sing at the grand age of 50, when after a few drinks, I vowed to sing at my forthcoming birthday party.
Peter Kestner, a local singing tutor and musical director of St Albans Chamber Opera (SACO), agreed to help knock my voice into shape. My first lesson proved to be a surprise to both of us!
It transpired I have a lyric tenor voice, which after many lessons and much practise, eventually earned me a place in the SACO chorus.
I also joined St Albans Rock Choir, lead by the amazing Abbie Harris, where I felt privileged to be given the chance to sing the solo part of 'Both Sides Now' in a performance at The Alban Arena, in July 2010.
However, I found the time commitment unworkable, and with regret, left the choir in 2013.
